Instagram-able Photo Spots in Istria
Raise your hand if you love taking pictures while traveling! Yeah? Me, too! On our last trip, we came across some pretty unique Instagram-able photo spots in Istria, Croatia. No matter if you’re a Professional Photographer, Blogger, Content Creator, or just a “regular” traveler on the hunt for a cool picture to post on Instagram: Istria got you covered.
I hope those photo spots and the included pictures will inspire you and help you find those spots for your travels. I’ve structured them by cities so you can easily skip there in the Table of Contents. I linked all the locations on a map down below that you can save and use during your travels. Enjoy!
Table of Contents
Photo Spots in Rovinj
Rovinj is one of the iconic cities in the area of Istria and very well known. It’s my personal favorite because it is just gorgeous. All those small alleys, houses, and ateliers… – pure beauty! This city will for sure offer you many beautiful places to see and – of course – take pictures at as soon as you just start strolling around. Here’s a small compilation of my favorite Instagram-able spots in Istria:
Table by the water

This spot is one of the most famous ones in Istria when it comes to Instagram and places to take pictures. It can be found in the old town of Rovinj, and it’s quite hidden, to be honest. That cute table actually belongs to a small boutique called Atelier Charm. The owner presents her dresses along the stairs down to the table. Also, this spot is (of course) usually quite crowded. Since it’s lovingly taken care of by the boutique-owner, it would be appreciated to donate a small amount of money into the jar on the table.
St Euphemia (View)

The church of the holy Euphemia is located on a hill, offering a fantastic view over the ocean. The church itself is charming, but the view from up here caught my eye a lot more.
Oh and by the way, if you’re visiting Rovinj within an Istria trip, make sure to read my blogpost about what to do in Istria.
Old Town

Since Rovinj is full of pretty, small alleys and crafts shops, you don’t need to look for a particular spot where you can take some fantastic photos in the streets. Just go for it! You’ll for sure find some nice stairways, houses, viewpoints and patios 🙂
Photo Spots in Poreč
Porec is a tiny, charming city located directly on the ocean. Most impressive here would be the Euphrasius Basilica, which thrones over the whole town. The old town has some cute alleys and houses, too.
The Promenade

The promenade around the old town of Poreč is a great place to take pictures since the contrast between the city walls and the ocean so close to each other looks fantastic. You can even walk inside the water at some spots. Be careful though, the stones are incredibly slippery and full of crabs 🙂
Euphrasius Basilica

The Euphrasius Basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage site and definitely worth a visit, even without taking pictures at all. It’s super exciting and beautifully restored/kept in order. You’ll find yourself in splendid rooms, romantic patios, and terraces full of lavender. The Bell Tower will offer you a fantastic view over the ocean and the city.
Photo Spots in Pula
Pula itself is far from being as pretty as the cities mentioned before. You can definitely feel the “bigger city “vibes here, so the cute little alleys like those in Rovinj are harder to find. Nevertheless, here are some cute spots you might want to check out if you’re on the hunt for that Instagram shot:
Arena

The Arena is an imposing building and reminds a lot of the Colosseum in Rome. Here, you’ll find walkways (like the one shown in the picture) that are perfect for capturing that middle-aged vibe.
Castell

The Castell offers a great view over the city with the amphitheater and the ocean. It also has a lovely, small tower you can climb up for some Rapunzel vibes. The inner courtyard is usually welcoming you with live music, too!
Fort Punta Christo

This is one of the hidden gems in the region, and you need a car to reach it. We’re not talking about the Fort here, but the Instagram-Hotspot you’ll find a few steps behind it. There, you’ll find the iconic bridge and some other artsy pieces. Keep in mind, though: Crossing the bridge is at your own risk and if you fall, getting out means climbing up some big, sharp rocks. It seemed way too risky for me after seeing others struggling while trying to cross it. You might also want to check recent reviews on tripadvisor since they take it off for restoration some times.

Photo Spots in Cape Kamenjak
I’ve already written a whole blogpost about Cape Kamenjak and its beauty, so make sure not to skip this gem while traveling through Istria. This place will surprise you with crystal clear water, coves, and the most relaxed bar – how couldn’t you take pictures here, right?!
Beaches and Coves

Honestly, there is no specific place to look for to get THAT cool shot. Just stroll around and get inspired. An underwater camera such as a GoPro would come in handy for sure, especially for underwater photos.
Safari Bar

This one is hands down one of the coolest and most unexpected places I found myself having a drink. The design is fantastic and such a cool motive when you’re on the hunt for some cool pictures. They installed a swing in the middle of the plants, bamboo furniture, wooden playgrounds, and even a tower. The spot that makes every (hobby) content creator’s heart beat faster, lol.
That’s it from my side – these are my favorite Photo Spots we found in Istria. Since there are many other epic places, I’d recommend following some local hashtags on Instagram to get inspiration. My favorite ones for this area are #rovinjcroatia and #visitistria.
Please adhere to the local regulations, though and do not violate any rules or cross any barriers just to get that shot. Especially the bridge at Fort Punta Christo shouldn’t be underestimated. Don’t risk your health just for a picture. Unfortunately, many go beyond good behavior to get some cool images in today’s society. I think we should all be a little more respectful and mindful when it comes to this.
With that being said, I hope you enjoy your trip, and this got you some inspiration for places to take pictures in Istria. You’ll find some more Istria Inspo on my Instagram, where I’d love to connect with you.
Stay happy and healthy!
